Meet the Team

Our people are what makes our business special! Please see brief bios below for the members of our Team, written by the Team themselves to provide a more personal insight, for the benefit of existing and prospective clients:

George MacShannon
George Ian HopeI have recently joined the leadership team as a Director of RJ Hart. I am also a Director of QAccounting, having worked for them for over 6 years.

From a qualifications perspective I am a practicing member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with fellowship status (FCCA), a member of the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA), and a member of Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA).

I originally studied Accountancy at Glasgow University, before joining Deloitte’s on a training contract where I worked for 5 years (3 years in External Audit, and 2 years in Internal Audit and Risk). I then decided to return to University at Heriot Watt to obtain a Master’s in IT specialising in Software Development. Since that point I have worked in industry building up senior Finance and Change Management experience in the Financial Services, Insurance, Oil and Gas, Health, Distribution, and Manufacturing industries, before returning to practice again in 2019.

Outside of work I spend most of my time with my family, performing DIY work to our house, metalwork and restoration crafts, and one on one sports.
James KerrI am the Accounts Manager at the firm, having joined RJH in 1989. I specialize in accounts production, managing the audits, and preparing tax returns.

I studied Accountancy at Glasgow Caledonian University, and I am a Fellowship Member of the Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA).

With decades of experience, I bring a thorough and detail-focused approach to supporting clients and ensuring the highest standards of financial reporting and compliance.

Outside work I enjoy going to the gym and taking long walks with the dog.
Maggie Hamilton
Kirsty FultonI am the Tax Manager with Robert J Hart, having first joined the tax department in 1993, and returning after a career break in 2006.

My remit covers personal, business and corporate taxation, as well as capital gains and inheritance taxes.

I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor, and member of both the Chartered Institute of Accountants in Scotland and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. I studied accountancy at the University of Stirling before taking up a training contract with Coopers & Lybrand Deloitte in Glasgow.

Away from the office I have trained as a kilt-maker, and a ballet fitness teacher. I continue to train with a local dance school and relax by working on a variety of handicrafts and reading.
Margaret Anne SteeleI currently work as the Payroll Administrator. I joined the company in 1999 as a Junior Payroll / Accounts Clerk, and since then have gained extensive experience in Payroll, covering all aspects including: calculating payroll, deductions and overtime for small to larger employers, processing and calculating Statutory Sick Pay, Maternity Pay and Paternity Pay, Pension Auto-enrollment and submitting data to several pension companies, and completion of payroll submissions to HMRC.

The main program I use is Sage Payroll, and more recently I have also trained and become Xero Payroll Certified.

I also assist with carry out monthly bookkeeping for some clients: processing sales, purchases, bank transactions, and the submission of VAT along with other reconciliation work.

Outside of work I like to spend time with my family, going on days out site seeing. I am a dog lover and I adore being with my four legged friend.
Lynne BarrieI am the Office Manager and I also manage a small portfolio of clients.

I joined the firm in 1980 as Office Junior / Receptionist and over the years, with both external and internal training, have amassed a wealth of experience in all aspects of the business.

Away from the office I enjoy spending time with family & friends visiting and exploring new places both in the UK and abroad, I also enjoy walking & swimming to keep fit.
Jackie CookI have worked with Robert J Hart & Company since leaving School.

I started as the Office Junior and then progressed into the Accounts Department a few years later.

Outside of work I spend most of my time with my family and looking after the household
and I also enjoy socialising with my friends.
Yvonne McKieAfter leaving school, I started working for RJ Hart in April 2004 as an Office Junior in the Admin department, before later moving into the Accounts department in 2006.

I currently work as an Accounts Assistant, where my duties include regular processing of clients records, maintaining ledgers, bank reconciliations, preparing quarterly VAT returns for clients, and preparing sole trader and partnership accounts.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking, shopping and cooking.
Katerina CardwellI’m an Accounts Assistant. I joined the company in 2014, and the following year began training to gain my qualification with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) at Glasgow College. I am also a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT).

If there is any missing information for your year end accounts, or VAT returns you will have the pleasure of me chasing you up!

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family. Before our son arrived, I loved outdoor pursuits such as sailing, horse riding, Munro bagging and I also volunteered as secretary for the AAT Glasgow Branch — interests I look forward to returning to as my little one grows.
Jack MullingsI joined RJ Hart in 2024 as part of their Accounts Team, having briefly worked as an Audit Assistant.

Prior to starting my professional career, I attended the University of Strathclyde to study Accounting where I achieved a First Class Honours’ degree. I subsequently pursued further education by attending the University of St Andrews to complete a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance, where I expanded upon my understanding of financial systems. Since then I have worked exclusively in practice to deliver our clients with comprehensive financial solutions tailored to their business needs.

In addition to my education, I proactively seek out the latest accounting technologies and industry trends to maintain my understanding of the wider industry. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, hillwalking and wild swimming.
Megan HallI have been part of the Administration Team at RJ Hart for just over 6 years, completing my Level 3 (SCQF Level 6) Modern Apprenticeship for Digital Application Support in Business and Information Technology Occupations in May 2020.

Through a strong mind-set, diligence and determination, I excelled during my apprenticeship and earned a diploma in Digital Application Support, along with a National Progression Award in PC Passport (SCQF Level 6) which further developed my skill-set and boosted my confidence profoundly.

I enjoy working closely with our clients and find it a rewarding aspect of the job. It’s always a pleasure to establish and build relationships with any new potential clients, whether it’s through my voice on the other end of the phone or my happy face greeting you at the door.

When I am not in the office, I prefer to unwind with a good book or a night out with my girlfriends at the weekend. I am an avid football fan too, so it’s not unusual to see me riveted to the TV when a game is on!
Ian MacDonaldI work as an part-time external Consultant to the firm, working closely with a small portfolio of clients.

For over 25 years I have supported RJ Hart clients in developing Finance led strategies which help businesses to measure, monitor and improve key operational efficiencies & financial drivers, leading to enhanced profit generation. In addition, I specialise in grant funding, working closely with Scottish Enterprise & as a retained Adviser to a number of Local Authorities.

My interests include food & wine, holidays, attempting to improve my French language skills, and DIY projects.
